Our Bishops

Catholic Diocese of Chattogram is established in 1927. Since then the Bishops served are the followings:

1927-1951 Most Rev. Bishop Late Alfred Alfred Le Pailleur, CSC (Bishop Ordinary)
19512-1967 Most Rev. Bishop Late Raymond Larose, CSC (Bishop Ordinary)
1968-1994 Most Rev. Bishop Late Joachim Rozario, CSC (Bishop Ordinary, first local Bishop)
1995-2010 Most Rev. Bishop Patrick D’Rozario, CSC (Bishop Ordinary, now Cardinal)
2011-2017 Most Rev. Bishop Late Moses M. Costa, CSC (Bishop Ordinary, later Archbishop)

 

Catholic Diocese of Chattogram was raised to the status of Archdiocese in 2017. The Archbishops served since then are the followings:

2017-2020 Most Rev. Archbishop Late Moses Montu Costa, CSC (first Archbishop)
2021-Present Most Rev. Archbishop Lawrence Subrato Howlader, CSC (second Archbishop)

 

Catholic Diocese of Chattogram had one Auxiliary Bishop ever. 

2009-2015 Most Rev. Bishop Lawrence Subrato Howlader, CSC (later Archbishop in 2021)

Archbishop Subrato

His Grace, Most Rev. Lawrence S. Howlader, CSC was appointed Archbishop of Chattogram on 19 February 2021 and was installed on 22 May. He is invested with the Pallium on 26 November 2021.

Archbishop Moses

His Grace, Most Rev. Moses M. Costa, CSC was the 5th Bishop Ordinary and 1st Archbishop of Chattogram. He breathed his last on 13 July 2020.

Bishop Patrick

Most Rev. Partick D’Rozario, CSC was the 4th Bishop Ordinary of Chattogram. Later, he was made Archbishop of Dhaka and then a Cardinal.

Bishop Joachim

Most Rev. Joachim Rozario, CSC was the 3rd Bishop Ordinary and the 1st Bengali Bishop of Chattogram.

Bishop Larose

Most Rev. Raymond Larose, CSC was the 2nd Bishop Ordinary of Chattogram. He was a Canadian missionary.

Bishop Le Paillure

Most Rev. Alfred Le Paillure, CSC was the 1st Bishop Ordinary of newly established Chattogram Diocese. He was a Canadian missionary.
